SLEEP DOES A BODY GOOD!

We need to keep talking about sleep, because it's SO important. Along with getting your 8-9 hours a night, having a solid sleep hygiene routine can make all the difference in the world.

You may be saying one of a few things:

"Yeah! That's my favourite thing ever!" or "Sleep - what's sleep - I have toddlers"

"What the heck does that have to do with getting healthy" or "Yup...wish I didn't need so much of that!".

On-going sleep deficiency is linked to increased health risks. Sleep affects how your body reacts to insulin, the hormone that controls your blood glucose (sugar) levels. Sleep deficiency results in a higher than normal blood sugar level. Studies also show that sleep deficiency alters activity in some parts of the brain. If you are sleep deficient, you may have trouble making decisions, solving problems, controlling your emotions and behavior, and coping with change.

We've all experienced BRAIN FOG and a general lack of alertness when we haven't gotten enough sleep. We feel for the mothers/parents where getting enough sleep can be a tall order, but encourage you all to find a way to get enough. Not only so you can be alert and energized but for your long-term health.

Sleep helps you feel better. It's more important than we realize. Sleep can help support your mood, banish under-eye circles, and most importantly it’s a fundamental pillar of a healthy lifestyle. Sleep is when your mind and body get to recharge and your skin has a chance to rejuvenate, so you wake up looking and feeling your best. It's amazing how productive you will be and how great you'll feel just by tweaking this one area.

HOW CAN WE ACHIEVE THIS?

When you feel you need to get back on track with sleeping, use SleepWell Vegan Melatonin Spray to help get you into a deep sleep. Why is deep sleep important? This is when your body does the vast majority of its detoxifying and cleansing work, including the liver acting like your body's janitor and your brain getting its overnight bath!

It's also crucial that we not wake during these times so we hit the right amount of deep sleep hours so that we produce our own hormone of Melatonin - so SleepWell helps us to kickstart the production of melatonin and get ourselves back on track. You can use this at times when you notice your sleep quality decreasing when you travel, or during daylight savings time transitions.

Also, be sure to remove any cosmetics, dust, dirt, and sweat at night prior to going to bed! Using a high-quality NIGHT REPAIR CREAM to nourish your skin while you sleep is a super smart idea, as is sleeping on a silk pillowcase! Your skin does the most repair at night time.

And the silk pillowcase? A smooth surface with very little friction means less tugging on the skin than with a traditional cotton pillowcase. We get 'crush wrinkles' from sleeping on our side/face, so we may get less of those when sleeping on silk. Studies show that friction from tossing and turning causes creases in the skin, but a silky smooth surface can reduce that effect in the long run. Thanks to silk's super smooth texture, hair glides over it without any friction which means you'll be less likely to wake up with frizzy hair, tangles, or bedhead. Silk's smoothness also means it’s less apt to absorb moisture from the skin, keeping skin nice and hydrated without zapping it of valuable moisture. That makes silk pillowcases great for anyone with dry skin (or for use in dry winter months).
