Just in case you didn't hear it today yet...You are AWESOME!

I know there is a lot going on in the world...we get it. Some of you (we included) have days where it can seem like a whole lot. AND, YOU NEED TIME & SPACE. We get that too.

What I am learning through our community and the HEALTHY HABITS group is that repetition of healthy things is GOOD!!!! Deep breaths, practice gratitude, hydrate, move you body, and most of all stay on track...because when you pay attention to your nutrition, not only is your body thankful but your mind is too.

We are more excited for you as each day goes by as we know you're getting closer to your goals, overcoming obstacles, learning lots, feeling better and more! Honestly, the longer you practice your healthy habits, the more you will LOVE this path you are on! SO, WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO STAY THE COURSE!

We came across an article that is about how often we reward ourselves with food...and typically it's "bad" food or food that doesn't serve us. Remember, everything we eat is either adding health to our bodies or taking it away. It got us thinking about how interesting this is - that if we've had a rough day or a rough week, we eat (or drink) something that often makes us feel worse.

" You aren't a dog...so don't reward yourself with food like you would a dog"

CAN ANYONE RELATE???

Imagine if we started thinking of it as "rewarding our bodies or our minds"...would we still choose the nachos, cheesecake, or a glass of wine? Probably not as often!

So here are a few ideas for you to try out...to reward yourself in different ways that actually serve you and make you healthier AND happier in the long run!

  1. Take a nap - Sleep is so important and I bet about 99.7% of us aren’t getting enough of it.

  2. Give yourself a mani or pedi - add a few drops of essential oils and body wash to a pretty bowl of warm water and soak.

  3. Take a hot bath - add flower petals or salts or essential oils to your bath. Turn on your favorite mellow music, light a few candles and soak.

  4. Listen to your favorite music - Make a playlist of all your absolute favorite music. Music is a great memory jogger for great moments in your past. Find songs that make you smile!

  5. Take an aimless walk WITHOUT YOUR PHONE - getting out into nature is lovely and calming and centering. Getting out into nature without the temptation to tweet, update or Instagram about it is exponentially more lovely, calming, and centering.

  6. Take time to do your hair and makeup - even if you’re not going anywhere. Every time I take the time to do my makeup and hair, I’m floored by how different I look and how confident I feel.

  7. Make yourself a pot of tea - get your favourite mug and sit in the comfiest chair in the house. Look out a window...watch the birds or squirrels play...and just breathe.

  8. Find your favorite book - read a couple of chapters and enJOY being somewhere else for awhile.

Balance.
